My Profile

Jessica Lewis

I am 18 years old and have been riding since as long as I can remember. I have been eventing for the last three years and dedicate all my time to horses. My competetive career started in the world of showing, where I had great success with a number of ponies which taught me a great deal. My biggest highlights were winning at Horse of The Year show in 2002 and 2004 and riding at Olympia on 3 occasions. I still maintain alot of contacts with in the showing world and regularly have horses / ponies in to be schooled or sold.

I am a keen member of the Pytchley Hunt Pony Club and within the pony club is where I discovered my love for eventing. I regularly hunt with the Pytchley & Fernie Hunt through the winter months and find is is a great education for young horses.

I have high ambitions to become a professional Event Rider, and Currently have a string of 5 horses to event this season. They are all up and coming but either young or inexperienced, 2 of which have recently made the transition from National Hunt racing to eventing !

In 2008 I started eventing with Grey Carne Queen and competed consistantly in JRN's and Open Ponyclub level. I was short listed to represent my region at the JRN final but sadly was unable to compete due to an accident.

In 2009 I purchased Hatton Rock straight off the race track in the hope that he would make the transition to eventing. He made a creditable start with double clears at Intro and Pre-novice level. We hope that through the season on 2010 he will upgrade to Novice. In 2009 I attained my first ride for owner Alice Ritson on Brynley Beau. We had a successful year with 3 top 10 placings at Pre-novice, winning at Pony Club eventing and finished 3rd at the Pony Club Championships. For the last 3 months of 2009 I went and worked for National Hunt Trainer Henrietta Knight and Terri Biddlecombe in order to become a stronger rider, improve my fitness and my knowledge of pace. Im very thankful to them as their help was invaluable to me and improved me as a rider.
